Google is going to get you

These last weeks saw raining the blows. After large sites penalized for sale of bonds, Google continuous to dismount the sites which seem to him to handle its results.

Latest to date: “BIG-Directory “.

Passed from PR6 with PR3, large “visual” sanction - as much of sites penalized lately received from them this weighed down time of an obvious loss of positioning: the directory plunged in the index on a flight of competing requests, its name, the elements of its title, etc… Only the request “BIG-annuaire.com” holds out (to be noted: SiteLinks are there, on the other hand). All this sticks to wonder with the scenario describes by Rand on SEOmoz.

More intriguing is that many sites which had undergone a “PageRank penalty” these last weeks had not seen their affected positioning. In this case, there’ is very clearly a penalty “positioning” also, and it is likely to be accompanied by a fall of traffic and intrinsically of profitability…

I want to put the following question: What could well make “BIG directory” to be penalized kind? Separately homepage of BIG-annuaire.com which is from a technical point of view “not-in conformity” to the guidelines Google (which recommend a hundred bonds per page to the maximum), I do not see too much what can be worth a penalty to them…

Is this the format, which appears too much directed “link juice”, and not enough “visitor satisfaction”?

If you also are concerned with this kind of problem, do not hesitate to comment on, that one tries to join together elements allowing us to analyze these penalties more deeply.

(Remarks skilfully suggested by my preferred consultant SEO)

    It is known that Google wants a better Web… from there to type bonweb.com… it had only one step there.

    The order site: bonweb.com does not turn over any more any result, obvious sign of setting in black list by Google.

    The site in question raises “proudly” the “paving stones” of paying bonds priceminister.com and kelkoo, similar to those of pixmania.com which were probably not foreign with the losses of PageRank of a few weeks ago.

    New type of sanction, therefore: after the losses of PageRank (posted), the downgradings wild (cf Big-Annuaire.com), here the return in large pump of the black list.

    Remain a question: Temporary Blacklist, way BMW, time that the faulty one does do the housework, or nonnegotiable Blacklist, as it was the case for others?

    To follow…

    On the Web, each document has an address (URL).

    In a perfect site, this address is single: it is not possible to present the same contents on two different pages (it is what is called “content duplicate”, and it is penalizing). The address in question can be of “static” type (http://example.com/this-page-is-static.html) or “dynamics” (http://example.com/this?page=dynamic).

    One can have to move contents, for example when a site is restructured, or when domain name is changed, or of free shelterer. When a document is moved, it should be made sure that as well the visitor, as the engine, are informed.

    How to make to properly inform an engine, and a visitor, of a change of address?

    Only one valid method: redirection 301!

    There exist several types of redirections: redirection Javascript, redirection by < meta-refresh> , redirection by the sending of a code of state, etc…

    The JavaScript redirection is to be avoided: although it functions for the large majority of the visitors, it is not taken into account by the search engines. Who more is, this type of redirection having been strongly used to mislead the engines (because allowing to discriminate driving/visitor), it could be related with an unfair technique and prove penalizing (you are vis-a-vis a machine, avoid “taking risks”).

    Redirection by < meta-refresh> is not better: she is not considered by the engines (or when it is the case… very badly).

    There remain two methods to carry out a clean redirection: the sending of a code of state via a file .htaccess, or this same sending via the script on which your site is based (ColdFusion, ASP, PHP, etc…).

    Permanent redirection: type “301, Moved Permanently”

    When a document is moved definitively towards a new address. Redirection 301 will make disappear the old address with the profit from the news, while preserving the elements useful for referencing/positioning.

    Redirection by .htaccess

    To place a file named [.htaccess] at the root of the site, on the waiter, with the following code:
    RedirectPermanent ancienne-adresse.html http://www.example.com/nouvelle-adresse.html

    or via a rewriting of URL
    RewriteEngine One
    RewriteRule ^ancienne-adresse.html$ nouvelle-adresse.html [R=301]

    NB: use the regular expressions if you know each other there on the matter, if not, list line after line the redirections to be made

    Method ISAPI Rewrite: (addition with the judicious request for Supercureuil)
    RewriteRule /ancienne-page.php
    http://www.example.com/nouvelle-page.php [I, O, RP, L]

    (to be informed in the file httpd.ini)

    Redirection by heading HTTP returned by script

    In PHP, send following information before any other echo of HTML (even a space):
    header (” Status: 301 Moved Permanently” , false, 301);
    header (” Hiring: http://www.example.com/nouvelle-adresse.html”);
    exit ();

    In ASP, use the following formulation:
    < %
    response.status = ” 301 moved permanently”
    response.addheader ” location” , ” http://www.example.com/nouvelle-adresse.html”
    response.end
    %>

    With ColdFusion, redirection 301 with syntax below:
    < .cfheader statuscode=” 301″ statustext=” Moved permanently” >
    < .cfheader name=” Location” value=” http://www.nouvelle-adresse.com”>

    If you turn under RoR (Ruby one Rails):
    def old_action
    headers [” Status”] = ” 301 Moved Permanently”
    redirect_to ” http://www.new-URL.com/”
    end

    Which are implications SEO of these redirections?

    Redirection 301 is what is done of cleaner. While carrying out a redirection 301, you make the old address not-indexable (with the profit of the news), which eliminates any content risk of duplicate. Who more is, all the elements which made the positioning of the old address are transposed to the news (the established links to old become (in a few days) links established towards the new address.

    One can consider, more or less, that the PageRank future of the new page will be equivalent to that of old (visible in Google Toolbar after 3 to 6 months).

    Caution: even if the visitors and the engines are redirected, you must modify your internal bonds, so that they point towards the new address. Redirection 301 is not a method of navigation but well a safety. Also inform your possible partners.

    I just checked my googles status, and I just started to like what I see there are 221 pages from my blog indexed in google. You can check it out here: probably when people will check this link will see more pages since I will start again to write some more articles.

    In the last couple of days I just been busy with a new project that I’m working on. This one is one of the largest projects that I’ve made. And after this one is finished, I will start the promotion of it and when it reaches the level of traffic that I’m planning to get, I will start another cool project, that will certainly be the best. I’ve found a really cool business niche, where there is no website in this world, and there are millions of clients. I cant give you details about this since they are classified.

    Again I will tell you if you start creating a lot of content, you will be getting a lot of google love. Right now this blog is the website that has the biggest number of pages indexed in google (221) and growing.

    If you start doing some time management on your current scheduel you will see that you will be able to do at least 100 pages of new content in different domains for your blogs and websites.

    In order to gain a lot of visibility in google you must create a lot of pages. You can do that, but one of the most important things is to stay away from the writers block. Do it by staying always in good shape. It’s good for your health to work out, and to have some breaks from time to time, after writing for 1-2 hours it’s always good to go out for a walk, even if you dont have a dog to take it with you.

    Me I’m currently writing for 1 blog, 1 of my main websites, and also I plan to start out a new personal blog, and another online marketing blog. Also I’m currently working on a lot of new projects that I will be launching soon.

    If you could mix all these things they wont seem too boring, and you will start to love what you are doing, and soon you will be getting a lot of traffic from google, if you keep up with the work that you are doing now.

    So far, my record day was 30 pages of content, but I’ve spent only 3-4 hours to write that. If I would write all day long 12-14 hours/day I’m sure I would be able to write as much as 100 pages of content in just one day. Most of the websites that are online have just 10-30 pages. And the webmasters are wondering why they dont get any traffic.

    Another important thing is to build links, you can do that. Right now I have a really cool idea on how to get lots of great links. And I’m building up around 50 links per day, This will change in the future, and I hope that I will be getting around 100 links/day for my websites.

    So far the tests that I’ve done with this online marketing blog, google seems to like a lot more the blogs, than any other type of websites. My online marketing blog has right now 89 pages of content indexed, so this means that it has more pages of content indexed than a website that I consider my biggest creation that has around 76 pages. This website that I’m talking about is a PR4 website that I’ve created 3 years ago. And it ranked 100 for a cool keyword that I’m chasing right now.

    So my opinion is if you have a website then you should start a blog on that website. Only this way you will be getting more pages into google, and also google will love your website because it’s updated daily.

    You will be growing your website’s number of pages that are indexed in google, this way you will have more chances to get more visitors from google. Also if you check the top 10 results from google you will see that the more pages of content they have the higher they are ranked :).

    If you want to do something for your website that will make it grow, than start a blog, and start posting new and fresh content each day from now on. It takes just 5 minutes to install a blog on your website and it will get you a lot of free traffic from google.

    This is happening because the wordpress blogs are already search engine friendly, and the pages of content will be taken as high quality from google point of view.

    So I started out a new google adwords campaign for an insurance offer that converted really good on yahoo search marketing. I’ve managed to get a really big list of keywords, and everything was looking good. I was expecting to see some good conversion rates, and a good ROI. But that never happened.

    I’ve spent around $40, and earned only $17.

    Where did I go wrong on this one?

    Well I allowed google to show my ads on its content network. So what my campaign did was having a lot of impressions from their content network, and just a couple of clicks. It is well known that these publishers networks can be a tricky place to do business. A lot of these publishers are just people that do PPC arbitrage that isnt quite bringing in value to the clicks, they just buy cheap clicks and sell them by using adsense.
    You can either earn a lot of money and get a great ROI, or you could just get some dollars burned away.

    SO what I’m saying is that when you first start a new advertising campaign with google be sure to turn off the publisher network. And only after you see good results with the search network, try to diversify by starting to use the publisher network.

    It didnt have to take a long time until this happened. If you remember google paid not so long time ago $1.6 Billions for youtube.com now they have to get some cash out of that. And what better way than to put up ads during the video that you are watching, in a corner. I have attached a printscreen of the youtube ads. It’s the ad for THE SIMPSONS Movie, at the end of this post.

    Google says that they will be charging $20 for 1000 views. Which is a small price for a CPM ad. Only big companies will afford to do this kind of advertising, it’s kind of expensive and it’s only good for branding.

    Some users are annoyed with the new ad system. Ads are never welcome anywhere.:) But they must make a buck or two in order to keep this service free. I guess the adsense money wasnt enough for them.

    In the future the users will get used to the ads and they wont be that bothered to see them, I think they will be happy to see when they change, because probabily at the beginning they will only see a couple of ads over and over again. And also in the future we might see some targeting, so if you watch a movie about ice cream you will get an ice cream ad. Hehe not quite a good example :) but hey ;P

    So Google will be earning a lot more from youtube.com and also another important thing is that they are planning to share a part of their income with the users, so if you are good at making cool videos for youtube you will be getting a share. Since they are planning to make a partnership program.

    Google is the most important search engine because it is able to index a big number of pages really fast. For example now this website got indexed by google, in less than 2 days. And now that I’ve written more pages, it already has around 40 pages indexed, and in the future this number will grow.

    Google is not only able to index the pages of your website fast, but also will be able to put it in their search result faster than any other search engine. So if you are building a content website you will definetely get some results really fast.

    Most webmaster enjoy optimizing their websites for google. It looks like google was able to create a search algorithm that rewards only the webmasters that are the most active, and that are bringing in to the internet the most valuable content. Google manage to tell which link is made artificialy and wich one is made on natural basis. This meaning that people really found your website to be providing some really great valuable information, and they link to it because they want to let others know a really cool piece of information.

    If you are starting to create a website that will get traffic from google, than you must know from the start that you will have to create a lot of content, in order to get noticed and start receiving some traffic that will mean something for your website.
