“Fine of the support for the navigator Web Netscape”

… it is the official message of Tom Drapeau, director of the development for Netscape, announcing the end of the Netscape navigator officially for February 1.

Netscape Navigator exists since 1994. It was repurchased by AOL in `98 before seeing its PDM bending with the profit of Internet Explorer initially, and Mozilla Firefox then.

Netscape nevertheless supported the creation of Mozilla, and reiterates nearly ten years after while supporting in new Firefox:

“Considering the success of Mozilla foundation in the development of products acclaimed by criticism, one feels that it is the good moment to stop the development of the Netscape navigators, to pass the reins to Mozilla and to encourage the users of Netspace to use Firefox. ”

In what relates to me, I used NS with the whole beginning. I quickly switché towards IE, to the liking of the reinstalments of Windows (95, 98… you remember? ).

Today, although being user Windows Vista “Integral Edition” (with license), IE7 remains on side: I only make use of it to check the compatibility of my developments with this “imposed” navigator.

Firefox brings to me what I have need, and does not weigh down me what does not interest me!

To return from there to Netscape, God vat!
